Lhawang Dhondup
Mountain Guide

With family in both Tibet and Nepal, Lhawang possesses over seventeen years of Himalayan experience. He began his career at age eighteen and since then has been on twenty-six Himalayan expeditions with summits of Everest, Cho Oyu, Shishapangma and Ama Dablam. Lhawang spent nine years of his life at the Varanasi University in India dedicated to the study of Buddhist Philosophy and Asian history.
In 1998 Lhawang and his close friends Babu Chiri Sherpa and Babu Sherpa established Nomad Expeditions. Nomad Expeditions is comprised of a team of Sherpa and Tibetan guides who lead tours in Nepal, Tibet and Bhuton. Expeditions even extend to areas as diverse and remote as Mustang, Khumbu, Annapurna, Mt. Kailash and Dolpo. Lhawang also finds time to guide for Mountain Link Expeditions.
His expertise in the Hymalaya has made him invaluable on trips to Aconcagua and Daulhagiri. When Lhawang is not guiding in the most extreme and desolate places on earth he is either home in Nepal, at his other home in Berkeley, California or helping with RD&D at ground headquarters.
